Thank you for using Padre AI ("Padre: Catholic Priest AI, Rosary & Bible"). Padre AI is an on-device, offline-first Catholic spiritual companion. Speech recognition, the language model, text-to-speech, and the digital-priest avatar all run locally on your iPhone or iPad. No internet connection is required for the core experience, and no user-configured API is offered — all operations run on the device.

Non-official & non-sacramental. Padre AI is an independent lay-developed spiritual accompaniment app. It is not an official Church product and is not affiliated with the Vatican, any diocese, parish, or religious order. The digital priest provides listening, comfort, encouragement, and guidance toward the real Sacraments; it does not celebrate any Sacrament, does not grant absolution, and does not replace a real priest. For the Sacraments — especially Reconciliation (Confession), the Anointing of the Sick, and the Eucharist — please approach your parish priest.

What does Padre AI do?
Padre AI offers five main tabs: Today (liturgical season, daily recitation items), Rosary (all 20 mysteries across the four sets, recited by the digital priest), Bible (selected chapters from the Old and New Testament in the Catholic Douay–Rheims Bible, recited with lip-synced TTS), Confession (an examination-of-conscience companion that guides you through the Ten Commandments and an Act of Contrition, and directs you to a real priest for the Sacrament of Reconciliation), and Padre (real-time voice dialogue with the digital priest, who listens, comforts, and encourages you).

Do I need an internet connection?
No. Padre AI runs fully on-device — Whisper ASR, the Qwen on-device language model, Kokoro / Apple TTS, and the DH_live avatar renderer all work offline. No network connection, no account, and no API key are required or accepted.

Is my microphone audio uploaded?
Never. Your microphone audio is transcribed on-device for speech recognition and is never transmitted to any server.

Does Padre AI absolve sins or perform sacraments?
No. The digital priest never claims to absolve sins, never says "I absolve you," and does not perform Baptism, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, Matrimony, or Confirmation. The Confession tab is a preparation companion that helps you examine your conscience and pray an Act of Contrition; for the actual Sacrament of Reconciliation you must go to a real priest (cf. Code of Canon Law, CIC 988–991).

Which Bible version is used?
Padre AI uses the Douay–Rheims Bible, the historic Catholic English translation. Protestant "Union Version" renderings are not used.

Which languages are supported?
The app is primarily localized in English (with Spanish as a secondary localization and Chinese as an auxiliary language). The digital priest's voice is fixed in code (English male voice "Daniel" and Chinese male voice "Liang") and switches automatically with the language; users cannot change the priest's voice identifier.

Who is the digital priest?
"Padre" / "若瑟神父" is a virtual, fictional character rendered by an on-device avatar engine. It is not a real person, not a real priest, and does not represent any individual, living or deceased.

Privacy Policy

Applies to: Padre AI ("Padre: Catholic Priest AI, Rosary & Bible") for iOS/iPadOS, including its subscription, lifetime purchase, and donation features.
Core Commitment: We respect your privacy. Padre AI collects no personal data and transmits nothing off your device.

Fully offline, fully local. Speech recognition (Whisper on-device), the language model (Qwen on-device), text-to-speech, the avatar renderer, the liturgical calendar, the Rosary, and the Bible library all run on your device. Your voice, dialogue history, examination notes, and settings stay on your device. No user-configured LLM API is offered or accepted. We do not operate servers that receive your conversation or voice data.

1. What Data We Collect
Short answer: We collect no personally identifiable information (PII).
The entire experience runs on-device and requires no account or internet connection. Therefore:

2. Subscriptions, Lifetime Purchase & Donations
Padre AI offers in-app purchases processed solely by Apple App Store using StoreKit. We never see or store your full payment instrument details. The products available are:

Subscription and lifetime purchases unlock the premium experience (unlimited dialogue time, ad-free). Donations are consumable and provide no functional unlock. Apple's transaction identifiers may be retained on Apple's servers per Apple's own policies; we only receive, where applicable, a confirmation of purchase status.

3. Advertising
Free users may see in-app advertising in the voice-broadcast selection interface. Ad content is delivered by Apple's official advertising frameworks where applicable. Paying users (subscribers, lifetime, or after a donation) see no in-app ads. No ad SDK collects your prayer, examination, or dialogue content.

4. How Data is Stored
All data generated by the app is stored locally on your device:

📱 Stored within your device using Apple's native sandboxing.
🔐 Inaccessible to other apps or network services.
🗑️ Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all related local records (dialogue history, examination notes, liturgical preferences).

5. Device Permissions
Padre AI requests only the permissions it needs:

🎤 Microphone — for on-device speech recognition during real-time dialogue with the digital priest (audio never leaves the device).
🔊 Speech Recognition — used only for transcribing your spoken input on-device.
🚫 No Local Network permission is required — the avatar runs via an in-app local resource scheme, not a network service, and no external LLM API endpoint is contacted.

6. Children's Privacy
Padre AI is rated 17+ on the App Store and is intended for adults. It must not be used by anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

7. Availability
Padre AI is offered in Catholic-majority and Catholic diaspora markets, including Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, the Spanish-speaking United States, and other regions where the App Store supports it. Padre AI is not offered on the App Store in mainland China. This policy is provided for users in other regions.

8. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy to comply with the latest App Store guidelines and Church guidance on spiritual accompaniment apps. Updated policies are published on this page; continued use constitutes acceptance.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Padre AI (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, devotional, and non-commercial use.

3. Eligibility — Age 17+
You must be at least 17 years old to use Padre AI. By using the App you confirm you meet this requirement.

Spiritual accompaniment, not a Sacrament. Padre AI provides spiritual listening, comfort, encouragement, prayer guidance, Rosary recitation, Scripture recitation, and an examination-of-conscience companion. It does not celebrate any of the seven Sacraments, does not absolve sins, and does not replace your parish priest or the Church's sacramental ministry. The App does not involve sensitive sacraments such as Exorcism or the Anointing of the Sick. For the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), the Anointing of the Sick, the Eucharist, or any other Sacrament, please approach a real priest in your parish (cf. CIC 988–991, 1003, 897–958).

4. Non-Official Status
Padre AI is an independent lay-developed product. It is not an official product of the Catholic Church, the Holy See (Vatican), any dicastery, diocese, parish, religious order, or Catholic institution. References to the liturgical calendar, the Douay–Rheims Bible, the Rosary, and Catholic prayers are presented for personal devotion only. The app's prayers, scripture, and quotations are not guaranteed to be free of typographical error; for the authoritative liturgical texts and translations, consult the official publications of your local Bishops' Conference.

5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Padre AI to:

Claim that the App's dialogue or recitation grants sacramental absolution, blessings with sacramental efficacy, or any sacramental grace;
Present the digital priest as a real, ordained, or authorized minister of any Church;
Generate or seek sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes minors;
Generate illegal content, including but not limited to violence, self-harm, or the facilitation of illegal acts;
Generate hate speech, harassment, or targeted abuse against any religion, denomination, or person;
Jailbreak, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the App, its on-device models, or its avatar assets;
Use the App as a substitute for required pastoral care, mental-health care, medical care, or emergency services.

6. AI-Generated Content & Disclaimer of Responsibility
The digital priest's replies are produced by an on-device AI language model (a quantized Qwen model running locally). Accordingly:

The developer is not the author of AI-generated content and is not liable for it. You are responsible for the prompts you enter and the content you generate.
AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or pastorally inappropriate. They are not a substitute for spiritual direction from a real priest, nor for professional, medical, legal, or mental-health advice.
The digital priest is a virtual, fictional character and does not represent a real, ordained, or canonically authorized minister.
Scripture quotations are from the Douay–Rheims Bible and are used for personal devotion; for the authoritative liturgical proclamation of Scripture, attend Mass and consult your parish.

7. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in the App (the avatar engine, the liturgical-calendar algorithm, the Catholic-themed UI, and the curated prayer/Rosary/Bible libraries), excluding the Douay–Rheims Bible text (public domain) and any open-source model weights, is owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute it without prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranty
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be doctrinally, pastorally, or factually correct.

9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including any reliance on AI-generated content, prayer guidance, or examination-of-conscience prompts.

10. Subscriptions, Lifetime Purchase, Donations & Refunds
All in-app purchases are processed by Apple via StoreKit and are governed by Apple's terms. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Donations are consumable and non-refundable except where required by law. For refund requests, contact Apple Support or the developer at 📧 710354687@qq.com.

11. Changes & Termination
We may modify these Terms at any time. We may terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or upon request from Apple or competent ecclesiastical or civil authority.
